Twice a year the Knights of Columbus (all councils) go above and beyond for the Dew Drop Inn. Yesterday was their Mothers Day Food Drive at 5 locations around the city from 9am to 5pm. Always a WOW moment for us at the Dew with the massive amount of food collected plus cash and gift card donations. Hosting a food drive of this size requires a lot of work and an abundance of TLC. A heartfelt thankyou to everyone who participated in and supported this food drive. Community support such as this is how we continue to serve that good meal daily. A Celebration of Mothers
This week our ED, Michael had the pleasure of attending a cheque presentation at City Hall. There were 2 separate donations for the Dew Drop Inn from our friends at the United Way of Thunder Bay. Both were a personal donation from the United Way Board and staff. How awesome is that! First donation was to support our hot meal service and the second donation will be sponsoring our Extras for Seniors supplement bags on a Monday yet to be determined. Community support from our community partners provide the opportunity to serve that good meal daily. Community Table 50/50 tickets are now on sale for the month of May. Every ticket sold this month supports food security work at Roots Community Food Centre , Our Kids Count , the RFDA Thunder Bay Regional Food Distribution Association , Evergreen A United Neighbourhood and the Dew Drop Inn Thunder Bay– while also creating a sweet jackpot for two Early Bird draws and one Grand Prize draw!
