The Dew Drop Inn is currently seeking candidates for the position of

 VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR (Temporary Assignment)

 JOB SUMMARY

Under the close supervision of, and taking direction from, the Soup Kitchen Manager, the Volunteer Coordinator manages volunteers to ensure a highly motivated group of individuals who are committed to serving the Dew Drop Inn soup kitchen according to its mission.  The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, engages and evaluates volunteers and is responsible for coordinating volunteer orientation, networking and training opportunities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In conjunction with the Management Team identify the organization’s need for volunteers based on operations and services.
  • Create and build relationships with community organizations and individuals to grow a solid volunteer base and promote volunteerism.
  • Organize and circulate, in advance, daily volunteer rosters.
  • Establish, update and circulate volunteer job descriptions and posting to effectively recruit individuals for a variety of volunteer roles.
  • Maintain database of volunteers, volunteer services, roles and scheduling and provide ongoing statistical information to the Executive Director and Kitchen Manager.
  • Participate in strategic discussions related to improving the volunteer program.
  • Perform all administrative tasks related to volunteer recruitment and other related duties as may be required.

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary school degree/diploma in business administration, human resources, social studies or relevant field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of databases and MS Office.
  • Previous experience working with or supervising volunteers, preferable in a non-profit environment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a temporary assignment with flexible work hours to a maximum of 60 hours per month – at an hourly rate of $16.00.
  • The Dew Drop Inn will assign hours that will not cause remuneration to exceed $970 per month.  This will ensure eligibility for CERB (Canada Emergency Response Benefit) is not at risk.
  • The successful candidate must sign a confidentiality agreement.
