Knights of Columbus Food Drive A Huge Success

Knights of Columbus Food Drive 20170513-1The city’s six Knights of Columbus Councils held their second annual food drive at the three Thunder Bay Metro stores on Saturday, May 13th in support of the Dew Drop Inn.

About 50 Knights of Columbus members and friends volunteered their time over the course of the day and delivered seven and one-half truckloads of food along with gift cards and cash donations to the Dew Drop Inn.

“This food drive could not have come at a better time,” commented board president, Paul Deighton, “our pantry shelves were looking pretty bare.”

The Dew Drop Inn normally feeds an average of 200 people a day, however, with the warmer weather, recent numbers have been well in excess of that figure.  The Dew Drop Inn receives no government funding for its day to day operation and relies heavily on donations of food and funding from the community.

Many thanks to the Knights of Columbus members and friends, the Metro Stores and the many people from the community who contributed to this initiative.  You are all proof that Thunder Bay is a city with a giant heart!
